Tracking-link cleaner
Remove common campaign parameters while preserving other parts of a link.
Remove selected tags, keep the rest in view.
A campaign link often includes parameters that describe where a click came from. This tool removes names beginning with utm_ and a short list of common click or campaign identifiers. It preserves other query parts, their ordering and their original encoding. The optional fragment control is off by default because fragments can identify a document section or application state.
A worked example
With the example loaded, the input contains id=42, two UTM parameters and gclid=demo. Cleaning removes the UTM and click parameters, keeps id=42, and keeps #details unless you select the fragment option. You can inspect the result before choosing Copy.
Exactly what is removed
Parameter-name matching ignores letter case. The list is utm_*, fbclid, gclid, dclid, msclkid, gbraid, wbraid, mc_cid, mc_eid, igshid, _ga and _gl. Other names are left alone. “ref”, “id” and “source” can have important site-specific meanings, so the cleaner does not automatically delete them.
Links you should leave alone
Do not clean password resets, email verification links, private invitations, payment links, signed downloads or unsubscribe actions. The tool refuses several recognizable token and signature parameter names, but an unfamiliar naming convention can escape that check. A link can contain personal identifiers in its path or fragment even when it has no campaign tags.
Will the cleaned link always work?
No. A website can depend on a parameter that looks like tracking data. Signed URLs may depend on the exact query. Preserve the original privately and verify an ordinary public page before sharing its cleaned address.
Does it stop all tracking?
No. A site may use cookies, login state, server logs, link IDs or other mechanisms. This is a narrow URL editing tool, not an anonymity service.
Does the tool open the address?
No. It parses and edits the supplied text without following the URL. The result is plain text rather than a clickable link.
