Password generator
Create a random password in your browser, with length and character controls.
Generate once. Save carefully. Use once.
This utility draws random bytes from the browser’s cryptographic random-number API. It maps those bytes to your selected alphabet using rejection sampling, then retries until every selected character group is represented. It does not use Math.random, ask for an existing password or test your accounts.
Choose settings that the service accepts
The default output is 20 characters with lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols. Length can be 12–64 characters. If a service restricts symbols, disable that group rather than changing the generated value into a predictable word. Similar-looking characters can be excluded when you need to transcribe a password.
- Set the length and allowed character groups.
- Generate a new password on a trusted device, away from screen sharing or other people’s view.
- Save it in your password manager before using it for one account. Generating another value does not update a password anywhere.
What the page does not protect
Randomness does not prevent phishing, session theft, account-recovery abuse, an infected device or a browser extension reading a page. A unique password limits reuse exposure, while a suitable additional sign-in method addresses a different part of account protection. For important accounts, use your password manager’s built-in generator and follow the service’s official security options.
Does NerveFilter store the generated password?
The tool code does not send it to NerveFilter, write it to local storage or remember it after the page is closed. Your browser, extensions, device and clipboard software are separate. Never treat an online generator as a secret vault.
Why can’t I select fewer than 12 characters?
This tool deliberately avoids short outputs. The lower limit is a product choice, not a claim that a particular length guarantees security or meets every organization’s rules.
What happens if no groups are selected?
The tool asks you to select at least one group. If the browser cannot provide cryptographic randomness, it reports an error instead of falling back to a weaker generator.
